If we were to be extremely precise we would have to say it first all began with the creation of the universe & the amazing plant we call Hemp; then millions of years later by the birth of Troy Hadeed on 24th January 1980. However we have chosen to spare you all the bla bla bla...and get to the good stuff.

Mystic Hemp was officially founded by Troy Hadeed in November 2001 but the concept had lingered for some time. Troy attended The University Of Tampa in Florida from 1997 - 2001 and funny enough graduated with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Spanish. During his college years the real education began in a hemp store called Hyde Park Hemp owned by Steve McGribby.

During his time at Hyde Park Hemp troy was introduced to the vast benefits and uses of Industrial Hemp and its potential to help save the world environmentally. After much of his own research and studies on the plants history and uses Troy was inspired by ‘Hemp revolutionary’ Jack Herer as his video, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes." Troy then decided that the injustice and misuse of the plant we call Cannabis Sativa caused by misinformation and propaganda had gone on long enough.

Setting out to create positive change in his own way Troy began making and selling mass amounts of Hemp jewelry while educating the masses of Hemp’s boundless benefits and potential. Not only did Troy make a name for himself and attract the media’s attention but soon enough was able to open Trinidad’s first and only hemp store. Mystic Hemp was more than a retail store; Troy had a vision of educating people about hemp and creating positive change in any way possible. Not only did Mystic Hemp face the usual challenges associated with the stereotype of Cannabis Sativa and Hemp, but the market also did not seem ready to embrace hemp and natural products to the fullest. Due to this Mystic Hemp was forced to diversify their products a little and got into the sale and representation of Bob Marley merchandise and other clothing lines in the reggae / Rastafarian world.

November 2008 will mark Mystic Hemp’s 7th anniversary and after opening their 2nd outlet in Tobago, Troy is looking forward to many more outlets throughout the Caribbean and globally. One day Troy hopes to see his vision of Industrial Hemp being grown in Trinidad and regionally making a massive impact on our economies, our environment, and our lives.
